I see you’re trying to copy other r/grilledcheese posts. ….  Not bad! (nods head)

The difference between burnt and charred is intent.

Try it again at a much lower temp. Patience and you’ll get that golden crisp we all know and love.

Don’t feel bad,I still get a good brown on the first one 😕

Something happened that is more than just a “whoops” type situation here and I’m curious to know what it was.

I see you are making heat dispersion tiles for a space craft

Honestly I’d just scrape it with a butter knife and still eat it.

Once you see it’s heating up. Flip every 10 seconds. Then once you see it charring, flip every 5 seconds. Do not ever press down on the sandwich. Once it’s done. Set on the plate. It can rest for 20 seconds before meeting to be flipped again. This will reduce sweatiness. Repeat the 20 seconds resting on each side until you’re ready to eat. A sweaty grilled cheese is gross.

That’s not what they mean by “Black Friday”

Mistakes happen; I’m more unsettled that it’s just raw dogging the sink.

    Oofff!! Pan too hot!!

I’ve been cooking on a gas stove for the last 8 years. Moved to a house with an electric stove and my first grilled cheese looked exactly like that too 😂😂 and I was even trying to be fancy and using someone’s idea from here (garlic herb butter with Italian cheeses) I was devastated. But don’t give up!! Just start slow.. and if it seems like the bread is toasting too quickly you can use a lid to help melt the cheese.

I’d take the black piece off and fold the other one over

  13. Ha! Yep, I have also tossed a burnt grilled cheese into the sink before the smoke alarm went off.

    Welcome to the club!
